Bartini Beriev VVA-14 Experimental Amphibious Aircraft
This prototype was supposed to be fully developed into a VTOL capable aircraft which could take off and land on water, and be able to fly at high speeds at high altitude or “fly” at a slower speed hovering over water using ground effects.
The Goal of the Bartini Beriev VVA-14
The goal was to develop a new type of anti-submarine warfare platform. The project was cancelled around 1975. The prototype flew over 100 hours but never had the engines needed to experiment with VTOL.
Current Status
The one remaining shell now lays dismantled at the Monino museum.
