Before he was a Spy, he was an Army Man
Another James Bond Actor who saw service with the British armed forces was the late Roger Moore. Interestingly, Moore was actually an actor prior to being called up for national service.
Military Service
In 1946, Moore entered the British Army and was assigned to the Royal Army Service Corps as a Second Lieutenant. He dealt primarily with logistics and at one point had command of a depot in West Germany. Eventually, he found himself in the Combined Services Entertainment section—a group of entertainers who traveled around the world, providing entertainment to other British forces.
Moore ultimately became a captain in the process. In fact, one of his duties while in command of the depot in West Germany was to oversee entertainers for the armed forces passing through Hamburg.
Return to Acting
Eventually, Moore was demobilized from the army at the rank of Captain and soon went back to acting. He eventually secured his most iconic role of Simon Templar in the television series, “The Saint,” as well as the legendary role of James Bond.
