FN Evolys: Belt-Fed LMG

FN Evolys Belt-Fed LMG

Back in 2021, the Belgian arms manufacturer presented the successor to its venerable Minimi. The Evolys is available in 5.56 × 45 mm NATO and 7.62 × 51 mm NATO.

Key Capabilities and Features

FN claims the machine gun was designed to excel in urban combat and fulfil three main capabilities: closing with the enemy, suppressive fire, and selective engagement.

The Evolys features a one-piece long top rail which enables the mounting of combinations of various in-line optics and (day and night) sights without removing iron sights. It also features automatic repositioning of the belt onto the feed tray and automatic last link ejection.

Ambidextrous Design and Fire Modes

This LMG is fully ambidextrous and is capable of both semi-auto and full-auto fire.

Weight Comparison

The Evolys in 5.56 is 2.5 kilos lighter than the Minimi chambered in the same calibre.

– RBM.
