German Military Considering AH-64E Apache as Tiger Replacement
Oh boy…. I kinda feel sorry for the Tiger now.
Last November, at the Berlin Security Conference, it was reported that the German government made a request for information on the AH-64E Apache. This suggests that the German military is considering the gunship as a possible replacement for their current fleet of Tiger attack helicopters.
Potential Shift in German Military Strategy
Now this comes as Germany had initially planned to modernize its fleet of Tigers, alongside program partners France and Spain. But this request came just months after Berlin announced its intent to acquire P-8 Patrol Aircraft, rather than co-develop a similar aircraft with France. Now it seems that just like Australia, Germany may be looking to buy a new platform rather than continue to use the Tiger.
Nothing is set in stone though, so we will have to see what happens next. But man, the Tiger can’t seem to get a break. ~NC
