Israeli Invasion of Gaza
After the massacre on the 7th of October, the Israeli Prime Minister declared a war on Hamas. The IDF started its mobilization, and the shaping operations began. The air force started high-intensity bombardments, and ground forces launched small skirmishes. Meanwhile, a roadmap to go inside Gaza was being laid out.
Initial Ground Operations
Around the 26th of October, the ground operations initially began with small raids and skirmishes. The objective was to test the ground, gain a foothold, and then build over it.
On November 1st, the IDF went inside Gaza to execute an operational encirclement of Gaza City in the north, thereby cutting the Gaza Strip into two. The attack was launched from the northern and southern directions. It involved around 2-3 divisions with further reinforcements. On November 3rd, the encirclement was completed.
Clearing Operations and Humanitarian Efforts
Now began the systematic operation of clearing the city. As of today, the IDF is making steady advancements. They have also been moving along the coast with the scope of sealing all exits, which also looks like a pincer movement along the coast.
There has been an evacuation corridor that is open every 6 hours a day. The Gazans are utilizing it fully. US Defense Spokesperson Kirby stated that the fighting will pause for at least 4 hours every day.
We at Defensionem are keeping a close watch and will provide further updates as the situation changes.
