Meanwhile in Guyana: Indian Air Force Delivers HAL-228-201 Aircraft
A pair of Indian Air Force C-17 Globemasters touched down in Guyana this week, as they were delivering a pair of HAL-228-201 turboprop aircraft for the Guyanese Defense Forces Air Wing.
Upgrade and Enhancement of Guyanese Defense Forces
The HAL-228-201, which are basically licensed copies of the Dornier 228, were ordered by the Guyanese Government. As the South American nation aims to both upgrade and enhance the abilities of the country’s Defense Forces and in particular, the Defense Forces Aviation units.
Functions and Capabilities of HAL-228-201
The aircraft will provide connectivity to remote areas and can be used for a wide range of functions including medical evacuation, disaster response, among other things. As well as provide surveillance along the border regions, which have been the source of recent tension between Georgetown and Caracas.
