De Havilland Dash-8 Surveillance Aircraft Spotted
Recently, a pair of De Havilland Dash-8 Surveillance Aircraft, operated by the United States Air Force, have been spotted operating out of the Piarco International Airport.
Extended Presence at Piarco Raises Questions
Now while such aircraft are not uncommon visitors to the twin island nation, their extended presence at Piarco, specifically the Urlic Cross Air Station which is operated by the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard, has raised many questions from the locals. Seeing the recent dispute between Venezuela and Guyana.
Potential Evaluation by Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard
But while the reason for their presence at Piarco is still unknown, there is a possibility that these aircraft are being evaluated by the T.T.A.G. As last year, the Trinidad and Tobago Government announced their intention to acquire two “new” Maritime Patrol Aircraft, to replace the old C-26 Metro-Liners which are currently operated by the T.T.A.G.
