The Belgium UFO Wave: An Unexplained Aerial Phenomenon
It’s October and long-time followers of the page know what that means. Let’s start off with an event that shocked an entire nation and even got NATO forces involved….
Beginning of the Unexplained Sightings
From the 29th of November 1989 to April 1990, thousands of civilians and law enforcement personnel began to report seeing large triangular aircraft in the skies above Belgium.
According to eyewitnesses, the crafts were triangular in shape, with three lights (one on each corner) and a “half dome” in the center. Yet, in all accounts, the craft seemed to move silently and would accelerate to impressive speeds without making a sound.
NATO Involvement and Air Force Response
Then, on the night of 30/31 March 1990, the Belgium Air Force scrambled a pair of F-16 Fighters from the Beauvechain Air Base after ground radar detected an unknown object near restricted airspace. Although the Fighters were never able to get a visual on the unknown object, they were able to get a radar lock on it, and what it showed defied explanation.
In a press release held by the BAF, footage from one of the F-16s showed the object accelerating at a speed that would kill a human, as well as making maneuvers that would have been impossible for any known aircraft.
The Continuing Mystery
To this day, the identity of the unknown aerial phenomenon remains a mystery. While many have said that sightings were nothing more than a case of mass hysteria and misidentifications, there are those who believe that the origin of these crafts is more terrestrial than otherworldly. But you’ll have to wait for the next post for that, so stay tuned.
