Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class J. Alexander Delgado captured some fantastic pictures on his deployment with the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group (CSG). In particular were the photos of the flight deck operations that had F/A-18 Hornets shooting off into the starlit night to only come back and be wrestled on aboard by an arresting cable. Just last week eight Sailors aboard the Norfolk-based aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower were injured when one of these cables snapped during a routine landing by an E-2C Hawkeye aircraft. The Navy as given out a statement that the sailors are now doing fine.
“There were no fatalities and the Sailors are listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.” – Naval Air Force Atlantic Public Affairs Commander
Using imaginative angles and time lapse delay, the Specialist managed to snap some of the best military photos of the year.
USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is currently off the Virginia coast conducting carrier qualifications for an upcoming deployment with her strike group, comprised of: Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3, guided-missile cruisers USS San Jacinto (CG 56) and USS Monterey (CG 61), and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 26 with its associated ships: USS Stout (DDG 55), USS Roosevelt (DDG 80), USS Mason (DDG 87) and USS Nitze (DDG 94).
