The Coast Guard Had A Spec Ops Unit. The Deployable Operations Group (DOG) was a quasi-special forces unit of the United States Coast Guard. You read that right, up until 2013 the Coast Guard had a spec ops unit that was good enough to perform missions with SEALs and embed with them. The unit did not fall under SOCOM though because the Coast Guard does not operate under the Department of Defense. While the program is currently suspended there are still several Coast Guardsmen serving on SEAL teams.

The closest thing to a spec ops unit the Coasties have now would be the Maritime Security Response Team (MSRT) although they operate domestically. Their main focus is raiding ships suspected of drug and human trafficking but can raid disputed oil platforms and other maritime objectives. They are highly trained in close quarters combat (CQC) and unique boarding techniques. Basically,  if you got some terrorists holding hostages on a boat or drilling platform, these are your go-to guys.
