Don't mind me, just husslin'... Stealing the Bespokoynyy's propellers

Don’t mind me, just husslin’… Stealing the Bespokoynyy’s propellers. We have all gotten away with “borrowing” a couple of pens from work or even a cheeky ream of paper from the office. But a Russian Navy commander pushed the hustle a little further than that… Too far, maybe?!

A Russian navy commander almost got away with stealing his own destroyer’s propellers! Back in 2016, the Bespokoynyy made its way to the Yantar Shipyard of Kaliningrad in order to be retired, decommissioned, and turned into a museum. The Sovremenny class vessel was meant to be dry-docked and have its propellers and driveshafts removed and its hull sealed and made completely waterproof.

It seems the ship’s captain and his acquaintances managed to remove both 13 tons of bronze propellers themselves and had them replaced by copies made out of other cheaper materials. We do not know exactly what happened next, but the culprits were eventually caught. The Bespokoynyy is now a museum ship and is displayed at the Patriot Park in Kronstadt. The commander and his accomplices will no doubt very soon be displayed in a gulag far far away.
