Project Hermes and the First Photograph of Earth from Space
Project Hermes was an American missile research program that ran between 1944 and 1954. The aim was to design long-range missiles for use by the US armed forces. One of the experimental rockets fired at the range was the General Electric Hermes A1. But the test range also saw the launch of captured or remanufactured German V2 rockets.
