The K-Max is a unique military heavy lift helicopter: the beast can fly unmanned.

The K-MAX was originally deployed to Afghanistan in 2013 were it delivered 4.5 million pounds of cargo. It not only took pilots out of harm’s way but saved thousands of convoy resupply missions to remote outposts, deep in hostile territory. The Marines and Lockheed Martin employees have nothing but good things to say about the system.

“K-MAX exceeded expectations as an unmanned platform in keeping our troops out of harm’s way” – Dan Spoor, vice president of Aviation and Unmanned Systems

Now that the system is back in the states it has found a new home at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.
